FPSBoost

FPSBoost improves client frame rate by disabling non-essential visual rendering. It does not change gameplay, movement, or interaction — it only reduces the rendering load, which can matter on low-end systems or during high-entity-count situations.

What it does

FPSBoost toggles a set of rendering features that consume frame time but do not affect gameplay. Configurable options vary by client but commonly include:

  • Disable particles — removes particle rendering.
  • Disable weather — stops rendering rain, snow, or thunder.
  • Disable block break animation — removes the crack overlay.
  • Reduce entity render distance — cuts off distant entities.
  • Disable block entities — hides chests, signs, and banners at distance.
  • Disable fog — removes fog rendering.

Client support

Client Status Notes
Wurst Yes Toggleable rendering options
Meteor Yes Granular control per feature
LiquidBounce Yes Performance presets
Aristois Yes Multi-version support
Boze Yes Anarchy-focused implementation

Server compatibility

  • HypixelLow risk. Rendering-only change; no server-side effect.
  • 2b2tPermitted. No anti-cheat active.
  • CubeCraftLow risk. Rendering-only change.

Detection behavior

FPSBoost does not send packets and does not change server-visible state. Server-side detection is not possible. The module is functionally equivalent to adjusting vanilla video settings.

Known limitations

  • Disabling particles or weather can reduce visual awareness — some players use these as gameplay cues.
  • FPSBoost does not improve performance if the bottleneck is not rendering (e.g., server-side lag).
  • Some mods (shaders, high-detail resource packs) override FPSBoost toggles.
