Chams
Chams (short for "chameleon") renders entities with custom materials — solid colors, glowing overlays, or custom textures — that remain visible through walls. It is a stronger visual alternative to ESP because the entity model itself is re-rendered instead of being outlined.

What it does
Chams overrides the material used to render an entity's model. Configurable options:
- Mode — flat color, outline, wireframe, or textured.
- Category colors — separate colors for players, friends, hostile mobs, passive mobs.
- Depth test — whether the overlay renders through walls or only when visible.
- Opacity — transparency level of the material.
Client support
| Client | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wurst | No | Not provided as a standalone module |
| Meteor | Yes | Multiple rendering modes |
| LiquidBounce | Yes | Advanced material control |
| Raven | Yes | Visual category module |
Server compatibility
- Hypixel — Restricted. Prohibited by server rules, not detectable.
- 2b2t — Permitted. No anti-cheat active.
- CubeCraft — Restricted. Client-side, not detectable.
Detection behavior
Chams renders on the client only. No packets reach the server, so server-side detection is not possible. It is functionally identical to ESP from a detection standpoint; the difference is the rendering style.
Known limitations
- Custom shaders can conflict with Chams rendering.
- High entity density makes the overlay visually confusing.
- Some clients no longer ship Chams due to Minecraft rendering pipeline changes in 1.21.5+.
