NameTags

NameTags enhances the vanilla player nameplate with additional information rendered above the entity: distance, health, armor tier, held item, or custom labels. It is one of the least intrusive visual modules and is rarely the subject of anti-cheat attention.

What it does

NameTags re-renders the nameplate attached to player entities and can add extra lines of information. Configurable options:

• Distance — display the player's distance in blocks.
• Health — show current health as a numeric value or bar.
• Gear — show armor tier, held item, or weapon type.
• Render through walls — display nameplates for players hidden by terrain.
• Custom colors — per-friend or per-enemy color coding.

Client support

Server compatibility

• Hypixel — Restricted. Nameplate modifications are against server rules but are client-side.
• 2b2t — Permitted. No anti-cheat active.
• CubeCraft — Restricted. Client-side, not detectable.

Detection behavior

NameTags renders on the client only. No packets are sent, so server-side detection is not possible. The main risk is visual — screenshots and streams showing modified nameplates can lead to bans based on rule violations.

Known limitations

• Nameplate rendering distance is limited by the client's entity render distance.
• Rendering through walls can be visually cluttered in crowded areas.
• Some game modes hide vanilla nameplates server-side, limiting NameTags effectiveness.
